Challenges:
1) Transactions and vital communications were severely hampered between Mavis Tire and their chain of 50 retail stores.
2) An urgent need existed to replace outdated, failing Unix terminals at each of their stores as well as upgrade their data center. 3) New applications Mavis needed to operate properly were Windows-based, which could not run on their existing Unix platform.
Solutions:
- Installed Neoware thin clients in all of their stores, creating a uniform and stable operating system for the entire chain.
- Designed and deployed Terminal Services at their data center.
- Used Sonicwall Firewalls to create a secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) for instant, reliable communication between each store and the data center.
- Created a custom monitoring system to proactively manage every store and each thin client at the store.
